metrovancouver | WATER CLEVELAND DAM SPILLWAY AND WALL REPAIRS To help ensure the continued delivery of clean, safe drinking water from the Capilano Reservoir to the region. What's Happening Here? As part of an ongoing maintenance program for the Cleveland Dam, crews will be repairing the dam spillway and walls. The spillway carries surplus water flowing from the dam and the walls on either side of the spillway direct and confine the flow of water. To access the spillway and walls, crews will be elevated in a basket, and Capilano Reservoir levels may occasionally be drawn down to expose the work area. The work involves: • Pressure washing the spillway and walls • Repairing cracks and applying a protective coating to the walls • Applying grout on a small section of the spillway This maintenance program will extend the lifespan of the Cleveland Dam, and help to ensure the reliable supply of clean, safe drinking water from the Capilano source. Schedule of Work Spring through Fall 2018 Weekdays from 7 am to 5 pm Environment, Access, and Noise Work methods and materials have been selected to minimize environmental impacts on the Capilano River and Capilano River Regional Park. An environmental monitoring professional will be on site to monitor the work. Access to the east viewing platform may be temporarily restricted. Pedestrian access across the dam will be maintained. All work will comply with the District of North Vancouver's Noise Regulation Bylaw.
