Corten steel plaque in excellent condition. Rust patina across the face (variegated, with streaking and a greyer patch upper-right); raised headline letters and screened body text fully legible, with no cracks, dents, graffiti, or missing characters visible.

10:37 AM MARCH 22, 2014 This is the site of the SR 530 (“Oso”) landslide that killed 43 people and destroyed an entire neighborhood. The slide devastated the valley but rescue and recovery efforts began almost immediately. Neighbors and first responders waded into the mud minutes after the slide and pulled out 11 survivors that first day. Community members and emergency responders returned to the site every day for another four months until they recovered every victim. The state, the nation, and the world sent assistance, donations, and messages of sympathy and solace. This is a story of tragedy, but also a story of hope, community, and resilience.
